Anyone else noticed a distinct lack of the usual pre bonfire night fireworks going off around Leeds. Or is it just me?

Not commplaining or anything, just wonder why??

People can't afford em'....credit crunch?

Heard a few going off around me in Selby last night!

Is the Roundhay Park display still happening?

Our next door neighbours cat comes into our house regularly and he's been very jittery since Halloween night and runs off under the furniture when he hears a firework go off. Wont be a good night for him tonight.

Our dog completely freaks out if she hears any too.

But, no, we haven't really heard anything yet.
Maybe fireworks these days are not allowed to make any noise....

Should be, although it is raining a lot here at the moment. Hasn't stopped them before.

Prepare for it to be very muddy on soldiers field though. I wouldn't come out in your best night out gear and a pair of white shoes.

Roundhay website says approx 7:30 for the bonfire and 8:00 for the fireworks but you are better being there early rather than late if you want to catch them, i often set off abit late and can hear them all going off as i walk there. Expect the local shops to be very busy as well, better of bringing your own bottled water/cans etc.

Will lock the catflap tonight before we go out,the stupid thing is when our cat hears a noise coming from outside that scares him, what does the stupid cat do.....runs outside nuts

We had some big ones going off at about 0:45 this morning hehe

You could hear the mortar pops then a few seconds later pretty huge booms! Maybe 20 in total over 5 minutes. Quite an expensive prank activity I think smile

It does seem to have been a lot quieter this year. I enjoy good pyrotechnics and went to Roundhay for Leed's "best" display, it was a bit lame this year with a very poor finale, they seemed to have cut well back on the quantity of large arial shells. I will wait for next march and a trip to the last four nights of the Valencia Fallas, 20 days of fiesta culminating in five consecutive nights of spectacular displays on the Paseo de la Alameda.
Last time I went they unleashed 8,000 Kilos of pyro on the final nights display alone!hehe

Bugger off!!! We've had fireworks every night here for the last week or so (since before Halloween for sure). With any luck the shops will run out of stock soon.

We've had virtually none round here. A few last night but definately less than normal. Weather is probably the main reason I would think (and credit crunch)
