Hi all,

Recently purchased a '99 E46 323i as my daily drive. It has a built in phone in the centre console which is obviously wired into the stereo system and has controls for the phone on the wheel.

One way to make use of it would be to transfer my sim into the old brick sized phone and use that from now on. However, I do prefer the Nokia N96 I currently use!

Is there any way of utilising the system that is already in place, ie modifying the cable so that I can plug in my phone? Alternatively can I connect a bluetooth system to the existing cable, removing the need for a highly skilled Halfords technician to start dismantling my dash?

Worst case scenario I will get a new bluetooth system installed, however I would much prefer to be able to use the existing setup and wheel mounted controls and remove the need for a stick on bluetooth controller.

Thanks in advance for any insights you can provide.

Workaround/bodge some of our chaps use is a second sim and forward calls between them. Vodafone used to offer a two sim/one number service but stopped it a year or two ago.
