rear view mirror frustrations!

I have a 92 pre cat and have been having real difficulty getting a rear view mirror; all the ones that Keith at Clevor Trevor has sent me (3 to date!) have been no good, i must add through no fault of his own as he has been very helpful.
Basically there seems to be two options for me; either a larger mirror 2 of which i have tried and both jiggles and vibrates rather annoying as my old one didn't and keith has tried a couple more on a car at a dealer and they do the same...or to get a smaller mirror which is what I had before but unfortunately I need a clip as on it's own it doesn't fit the grooves in the mounting on my windscreen so no good! My old mirror had the small clip which attached to the mirror and mounting on the windscreen but it unfortunately broke. I am really used to driving without the RVM now but it would still be nice to get a replacement that works at some point! Anyone had similar problems? and anyone have one of those damn clips?

On ebay you can also get the clip that fits the 205 GTI mirror. I got one for my S3 and it worked for a few weeks until I knocked the mirror while cleaning the screen. This damaged the grooves and it wasn't as secure afterwards so a bit of epoxy resin on the grooves and the mirror was fixed - permanently.
