I downloaded a document with production volumes for 2006 to 2008 and plans for 2009/10/11 and the phasing out of the model.

Not sure which site I got it from, but figures up to 2011 were running at about 9 a month - so not many in a year.

I think it was a dutch lotus fans site - there were all these newletters as well.

Will have a look

I believe that less than 50 Europas have been built since the introduction of the SE 18 months ago.

I'm also told that the original 2006/07 batch was less than 200 cars.

Would be interesting to know how many have been registered in the UK and how much they actually are used. Must be a way of finding how many are on the Police database as being taxed and insured at this point in time.

Other than the odd one for sale, I've yet to see one on the road in the hands of a private owner other than my own. If it wasnt for the few owners on here I wouldnt believe anyone else drove around in one on a daily basis as I do.

On the top of my windscreen I have the VIN. It goes something like xxx10010. Guessing I have the 10th production Europa. If the VIN number represents the production number then I am sure I have seen another Europa with a number ending in the 200's, but I also recall reading that, last year, Lotus only sold 23 Europas. I do like the idea of this car being rare.

According to info received via another forum , for the same q... There must be up till now around 400 Europas been sold worldwide.... And there is a forecasted further production of 6 to 8 vehicles each month untill last quarter 2011 when production will stop-- see also mail from Roger Daltrey....

I have a new hobby Europa chassis number spotting. Beats train spotting. I was an ex tractor fan, but it sucked.

Sorry!

The Europa is so rare that the only time I have seen another on the road, I spent the first mile or two wondering 'what is that car up ahead, I don't recognise it'

A new level of rarity; Not even recognising a car that is the same as the one you are driving!

I'm not sure about the VIN numbers, mine was Lotus's own 225bhp S, with full tan leather luxury interior. It was used as a press car and seen in quite a few magazine and web reviews. It was registered mid 2007. Just had a quick look at the car and the last 3 digits are 593 on the plate in the windscreen.

Interestng numbers, ta!
The economics of this would give any car manufacturer nightmares, but the owners get an incredible rarity, sure become a collectable classic. Plus of course its a proper sensible car in other respects with supercar performance. Pity i´m fresh air only type.

I rarely took the top off any of the Elises I have owned, mainly due to Linda not wanting her hair sanding her face off but also cos I'm a lazy bugger! I'm really looking forward to getting my Europa on the road with the charge cooler, exhaust & new mapping smile

It does have a little way to go yet though!! lol
