Gotta whip the pedals off of a bike tomorrow, and can never remember which side has the left hand thread. I'm thinking that the left hand thread should be on the right hand side, but would like a bit od PH confirmation confidence.

For pedals it's left on the left, right on the right.

At the weekend I bent a spanner and mangled an allen key as I super-tightened a pedal which was supposed to come off. The hex part of the pedal spindle was ruined too so the pedals are now in the bin.

Put the spanner on vertically from above and then turn towards the back of the bike. Same instruction will loosen both sides.

I find the best way of remembering which way round the threads are is that if the bearings in the pedal sieze then it will unscrew. Same goes for the BB threads, if the BB siezes you will unscrew both sides rather than pull the threads out of the frame.

To be fair, "left is left, right is right" is a bit easier to remember!

You could say that but when you have that one for pedals and left is right, right is left for BB threads things can get confusing.
The method I described lets people understand why the threads are that way round and once you understand the reason behind these things you no longer need sayings to remind yourself which one is which.
