right,

have asked similar before and you came up with the goods. great pub recommendations but wasted on substandard women.

really looking forward to a rendezvous tomorrow but she has to be in mexborough early evening. looking for somewhere close by with an open fire, comfy seats and fantastic food. make it as yorkshire as possible please!

If you're after a good country pub in Mexborough with cosy open fire, I think you'll be struggling there. I think your best bet is The Rockingham Arms at Wentworth about a 10 minute drive from Mexborough.
If you want something nearer just out of town you could try The Manvers arms, at adwick on Dearne. Its a quiet village pub but it missing the Big open roaring fire.
Good luck mate....

doesn't have to be in mex, just in the general locale, neither of us will be coming from that area but thats her destination. i am wondering as to the liklihood of finding a gem with rotherham, donny and barnsley so close by!

Actually the Rockingham Arms in Wentworth isn't quite as nice food as it used to be. I think it got taken over by a chain, so the food is only slightly better than what you'd get at a Weatherspoons. Or was the last time I went.

Every chance they've booked their ideas up though now. If not try the Le Bistro just a little bit down the road. No fire, but the food is wonderful. You'll have to book. Great value for money there though, but none of that pre-cooked and reheated stuff there, its all fresh and very very lovely!

Well if if you're after a nice meal without the Fire, Reeds restaurant at The Pastures serves some pretty good food but don't expect to pub prices.

Try the Cadeby Inn, some friendly locals and some good black sheep bitter.
