Just back from the west country and you’ll all be pleased to hear I managed 30.2mpg outbound and 28.9 inbound. The average was down for the inbound bit because for the first gall I only managed 19 – naughty boy. However I redeemed myself later by covering 68.5miles for the loss of only two imperial gallons. On one rare occasion I did get up to 74 only to glance in the mirror and spot the BiB in their bmw estate sneaking up behind. The missus said they looked at the motor as they exited.
Do you think those average speed check cameras are for real? I’m sure I exceeded the limit through several the other week in the runaround (low 54, high 68) but nothing happened. They were everywhere on the A38 and of course you get the usual types who slow right down to well below the posted limit. It must be the sheep mentality. It’s probably why they’re actually used – cause mass panic in the general populace.
Once on the m/w more fun and games. I was waiting to overtake from the inside lane and was wondering why the middle lane user was taking so long to get past, couldn’t she see I was getting very close to the truck in front (you know the type you’re doing 70 and they’re overtaking you at 71)? Of course not, it all became clear as she drew level – the stupid cow was far more interested in the conversation she was having on her mobile.
BTW the feckers who make the SPECS devices must be chuckling all the way to the bank. Their turnover has increased from £750k to £7m in 10 years.
