You missed my point a little. I suspected people on here were about to start blaming US gun ownership for all these killings when of course that is nonsense. When guns were freely available in the UK we killed each other far less frequently than Americans do and now guns are hard to get here, it's still the same. Whatever makes Americans go off and shoot each other, it's not because they own guns.

Presumably the same reason certain ethnic groups here account for far more violent crime than their proportion of the population suggests they should and similarly a higher proportion of the prison population.

Plenty of countries with more guns per capita don't have such gun crime rates. It's not the guns, it's the attitude of the populace.

Canada, right next door to them being one. Certainly their gun ownership levels are similar.
It is an interesting one. You're right, it is an attitude thing, but what causes such differences.

I'm not too sure it would be much different to the US here if any idiot could go out and buy powerful weapons cheaply and with mimimal screening for mentalists. Think about the way crime is hyped up by the media so half the population is in a state of fear. Scared jumpy people and guns are not a great combination.
