Where's this big (100/80 A - whatever) fuse supposed to be?
I thought it was in line with the thick red cable which runs from the starter, down to the chassis, along the chassis a little bit then up and under the centre console/dash.
But mine's nowhere to be seen (or felt). Am I looking in the wrong place?
Might my early 4.3 not have one?

The fuse is between the starter and the alternator, not on the thick red wire.If you have one it will be going in that direction. Are you just interested or do you have a "charging" problem ?

Thanks.

Just interested - I seem to be spending more time looking at the underneath of the car than the shiny side at the moment. Thought I might as well check all these potential problem areas while the car's up on stands.

The wires from the alternator disappear into some of that black plastic flexible trunking - I'll have another look, but suspect I don't have said fuse; the wires come out of the other end of the trunking and go straight to the alternator.

My 92 4.3 hasn't got one which is one less thing to go wrong I suppose.
