Sat Nav issue

Hi all, i've got weird issue with my Sat nav, it seems like its not locking onto any/enough satelites. The map positioning is all over the shop, i.e. it thinks i'm in ilkeston, when i'm acutaly in Leicester! also the north pointer is point south!

it didn't sort itself overnight, i've tried taking out and replacing the nav DVD, still no joy

anyone got any ideas? if not i guess i'll book it in on Monday

First thing to try is un doing the battery for a couple of minutes then pop it back on, that should reset the computers and resolve any software "feature".

If that doesn't fix it, could be the GPS antenna, first check it is plugged in firmly, if it is, get a new GPS antenna from ebay - it plugs into the computer in the boot area I believe on the Z4.

If you have a warranty - ignore all of the above and let BMW figure it out!

The North pointer will rotate (albeit still to north) if you've got map orientation set to "direction of travel" instead of "north".
