I've a pal going to Vegas in December wife his wife for 5 nights to celebrate his 50th, a few of us would like to try & set something up for him as a surprise whilst he's out there, I know he's already bokked a helicopter ride & to see a show.

Can anyone suggest any ideas?, I had heard about a gun club out there where you can pay to have a go with all manner of stuff, which would probably be right up his street but can't find the name of the place?

The rides at the top of the Stratosphere could be fun.

Go to see the Hoover dam or Grand Canyon? The whole area is extremely well detailed on Google Earth by the way, if you want to browse around.

Its www.lasvegasgunrange.net We went there and played around with M16s and MP5s. Its not what you'd call cheap mind you. The indoor skydiving is also pretty good fun.

thegunstorelasvegas.com

was there a couple of weeks back... cost me about £130 for 3 guns of my choosing (a magnum 44, ak47 and some form of semi-auto the american soldiers use on each other). had 25 rounds with each and a rangemaster to give me guidance etc.

expensive, but memorable... i took the targets back with me... i have osama bin laden with 25 ak47-sized holes in his chest on the wall in my garage.

oh... and there are plenty of wes to bang too...

Not quite as exciting as the gun store (great experience btw, when else are you going to fire an automatic weapon in your life?) but great if you are of a certain age -

Close to the Gun Store too. One of the hidden gems of Vegas.

Get them a plane ticket to somewhere interesting! Las Vegas is dull as dishwater unless you are a gambler!

The range of shows are the exception to the above.

Get them tickets to one of the Cirque Du Soleil shows.

Rent him a nice car for the day? Viper, corvette, classic mustang etc.

Book a table at one of the many posh restaurants.

Upgrade his room to a suite or flight to 1st class.

Get him a shed load of chips to blow.

Dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, window seat looking over the Bellagio fountains. The food is not that great but the view is superb.

If you want to treat them to good food, try Picasso in the Bellagio casino.

Another option is a dusk time flight over the strip, try Maverick helicopters. If pockets are more flush Maverick & other operators do a day trip from Vegas out to the Grand Canyon by helicopter passing Hoover Dam on the way. You land in the canyon and then come back into Vegas near dusk. Papillon are another recommended operator.

Final one for a PH'er is there is a company renting out proper old school 50's hot rods. I recall they are based on Tropicana just off the strip but can't remember their name.

Richard Petty driving school at the vegas speedway was superb, either driving or being a passenger in a 600 bhp nascar.
