My rear seat has been folded down for a couple of days and the seat belt seems to have retracted further than normal, meaning I cannot now raised the seat. Because it will only lift up halfway, it doesn't look like you can even get in to undo the bottom end of the belt. The ratchet end is sealed inside the seat.

Anyone had this and know the solution?

The ratchet end is sealed I believe because it contains pyrotechnics for the pre tensioners (just had one replaced by a dealer and he told me that)

Is there no way at all you cen reach the strap and pull it to unreel it?

See this a lot at the garage i work at, What you need to do is get to where the belt bolts to the floor (under seat base) & unbolt it, then lift and lock the seat back into position. With a bit of jiggery pokery you can then pull the belt out and reattach it to the floor.

All sorted. I forced the seat up, lifted out lower seat, undid the anchor point a couple of turns (17mm socket), lowered seat halfway and undid the bolt by hand. The tension in the belt (lots!) would wreck the thread if you unbolted all the way with the seat back up.

Once the seat back is up the G weights hang down and the ratchet releases. Bolt back up and reclip lower seat in.

It took less than 5 minutes.
