Battery Voiltage Low?

Out for a drive earlier anf the voltage was only showing 11.8, not dropping at all and flicking above 12, but i thought it should be over 13? The battery is very very recent so dont suspect that...could my alternator have gone kaput?

you know that did cross my mind, i will change it i have couple spare...

should definetly be over 12.75v whilst running and occsionally nearer 14v

Could just be the fan belt slipping; they are a pig to get tight enough.
