Evening all..!

Following a last minute trip to Thailand earlier this year, I have decided I will be going again next spring.

Last time I booked flights very last minute, so was limited to what I could choose.

This time a bit of planning is going to go into it, so my question is when and where should I book flights in order to get the best value for money? Hoping to pay around 350 - 400 return to BKK.

Any constructive replies much appreciated!!!

Asap would be the best time to book. There aren't that many late deals on Bangkok flights as it's a popular destination from the UK and flights sell out quickly. I can have a look on our system at work if you want. I'm sure I'll be able to find a £400 ish flight smile

I just went through Skyscanner back in June to book flights for Sept.

Found that the Middle Eastern carriers were a fair bit cheaper than flying direct. Got a return LHR to BKK via Doha for £400 return.

That'd be the best bet. I think either some of the Middle Eastern carriers or perhaps Jet Airways are about the cheapest you'll find. Also try Royal Air Brunei if you fancy a cheap flight. Just a little risk that they'll go bust before you fly wink

I either book mine through Netflights.whatever (used to be Airliinenetwork.whatever) and fly either Qatar (via Doha) or Etihad (via Abu Dhabi).

Usually pay around £375-400 but have turned up at airport same day before now (a couple of weeks ago in fact) and paid around £450 and flown Emirates (via Dubai).

All are comparable in my experience.

I'm going to book through Ben next time though smile

I got a cheap one way with Kuwait Air a couple of weeks ago. Oman Air has some good deals too.

I used Expedia, but a friend of mine booked direct with Oman Air and got a good price.

Emirates are always a tickle above the cheapest you'll find but deffo worth the extra 40-50 quid.

I've flown many times with Emirates, Qatar and Etihad.

All three have been comparable "service" but I would say Etihad or Qatar are slightly better.

Anything to avoid DXB for me. Can't stand the place. frown

i go a few times a year and ive found the middle eastern ones are the best but some of the cheaper ones you will have to wait a while for your connector in buabi, quatar, abu etc..

whatever you do dont leave it to your girlfriend and she books you on aeroflot because she didnt want to wait 6 hours in duabi.. Worst journey i have ever had without a doubt. if this sounds unreal i promise you it all happened..

The plane was some cargo plane which it looked like they had strapped seats to, everyone and i mean everyone was drinking spirits.. the young girl sitting next to us started drinking with the three guys in front, i was pretty sure she was going to puke when she had drunk 1 litre of congac and started sweating, hickuping, getting naked. she chundered, then went and passed out in the toilet, no one gave a st and she stayed there till well after we had landed. Now the seat next to me was stinking of puke so i went and sat on the air hostesses seat a few rows behind us. My girlfriend didnt care she was pissing herself laughing.
The russian airports are a joke, like going back to the 70's, (not that i was alive but i presume it looked like that) The staff are russian and therefor seriously rude.
The next plane was going into britain so had to be more modern etc, was an airbus and i got the front row of seats for us, just as we were about to leave 4 russian police march on and down to the back, about 5 mins later march some guy off at gunpoint, apparantly this is normal..

overall a joke. i never ever wish to travel aeroflot again and i dont wish it on anyone..

Haven't been through Dubai for a long time now, IIRC they've built an Emirates only terminal now.

But yeah, soulless palace to the Gods of chintz t'was the airport. Convinced me never to bother visiting the glorious jewel in the desert.

Yes they have but it's still as awful and pretentious as the rest of the airport.

Better to "slum it" in AUH or DOH.

Why not just fly straight there on EVA. Maybe only just above the budget you mentioned and you are on a diretc flight, new plane with pleasant staff.
