Does anyone know if it is possible to retrofit cruise control on my 993 tiptronic(varioram), If so, any help would be appreciated. I have spoken to Readin OPC and they say it is almost impossible without a lot of work and money...??

They are right, AFAIK. Very complicated systems - have to piggyback braking system, ECU, accelerator etc.

Errr, but if you want toys like cruise control in your car, then there are better cars to go for (Mercs, Jags) than a 993 Porsche.

But if you must, just found this on a motoring Q/A site:

"Try the aftermarket company Vehvac on 01732 868 080. It is the distributor for Rostra Precision Controls (www.rostra.com), America’s largest supplier of cruise controls who also supply General Motors with its systems, which means the technology is well proven.

Vehvac has 14 service centres in Britain and also offers a mobile service. Installation of the system takes a day. Rostra cruise controls are designed to work with the most complex fly-by-wire throttle systems or the most basic cable throttles — Vehvac says there should be no problems installing the system on your Corsa. The only visible change to the car’s cabin is the addition of a control stalk, either on the left or right side of the steering column. The Rostra system costs about £445 installed."

The thing is Dom, I am nearing the limit on the licence, The only way I could think of weaning me off the loud pedal for a while was some sort of enforced cruise control. useful for touring too, which we do. Rest of the time, I hear the varioam sliding open and changing the engine note, sounds like a small turbo spooling up for just a few seconds..., Marvelous!
