Which Tuscan Engine Is The Best?

This has probably been asked many times before so please excuse me.
When giving serious thought to buying a Tuscan which engine is the most reliable or which engine with what mods. I do know that earlier ones can be bad and most have had rebuilds (PLEASE dont take offence if this is far from the truth, not speaking from my own expirence, just seems to be the impression i am getting.)But what mods are the right ones, or are there any mods?? TVR are supposed to have these things sorted but in which model? and once fixed are these problems totaly sorted?

Andy, I think people are just weary of covering the same ground. Have browse back through the Tuscan forum and you'll find plenty of discussion about it.

The simple answer is probably just to buy the newest one that you can.

According to the "people in the know" the 2003 cars onwards are streets ahead of the earlier cars, in terms of engine reliability.

but also Tim those cars haven't been driven very far, however the number of engines being rebuilt at teh fatory has taken a dramatic downward trend which is a very very good thing

engines : popular rumour is all the 4 litre engines are the same spec, don't know if this is true, but i've had a std and red rose engine in bits and the only difference was the red riose car had exhaust ports 1mm smaller than the std car!

A std tuscan made 373bhp on my local rollers!

I believe 390bhp is possible from a std tuscan with different mapping.
