Now it is a terrible time for her and therefore we can understand her being angry.

But which dhead in the sun thought taking the piss out of the handwriting of a man who's only got a small amount of sight in one eye. For all we know it took him an hour to write that, and he strained over every word. Would they prefer he simply runs another copy off the lazer printer?

Will they be mocking people in wheel chairs for refusing to curtsey for the queen?

He's clearly having medical problems.

And he has the controls.

God help us all.

Given that Brown is known here as "Winky Mcfknut", do you really expect people to get all righteous about it? hehe

Ridiculous that a man in his position is sitting around scrawling stuff out like a teenager writing thank you letters.

He can still send a personal letter even if it is typed up. It would be far more appropriate from a man in his position. Typed doesn't necessarily mean 'form letter' or impersonal. You wouldn't expect the Queen to get her Bic out.

The press would claim that though. If he stopped you know the story would be "Brown can't even be bothered to hand write a letter to grieving family any more"

And yes. I would expect the Queen to get her Bic out if she'd done it for everybody before me. And if she didn't I'd assume it was just another one run off the printer.

Some of it was just badly scrawled (the spelling of comfort was obviously correct but the letter shapes badly-formed), but even if you can't see st there's no excuse for missing out letters and using 'you' instead of 'your'!

Well if you're playing that game, then how do we know it wasn't penned by a recent graduate employed by Labour spin doctors? Hell, it's even got deliberate mistakes to convince us how real it is.

But thats my point. They think it's fine to broadcast in their little video someone taking the piss out of another persons disability, AND support the person taking the piss.

Now I think Gordans a like everybody else. But that's low.

Seems to me that Brown was showing a lot more respect and sympathy for her loss by writing the letter personally by hand (even though he doesn't have pretty handwriting) rather than getting his secretary to draft a standard condolance letter for him on a word processor and then take a couple of seconds to sign it. Not that I am defending Brown particularly, but it is just another example of the news media trying to generate an emotional response rather than just reporting the news in a factual manner (any one seen Charlie Brookers newswipe programs?).

Now I don't like the man but I think the mother has blown this out of proportion. I realise that she has just lost her son so is understandably upset but come on, to describe the letter as disrespectful is a bit harsh. The Sun are stirring it up and using it as fuel for the fire of hatred.

Yes, the man is a plonker but I am sure we can pick something of more seriousness from his catalog of wrong doings than a typo.

Given the widespread knowledge of the problems winky has with his eyesight, I'd focus not on the scrawled handwriting, but in true PH style on the grammar and spelling, both of which, you'd think wouldn’t be effected by the issues with his eyesight, I know that if I’m not wearing my glasses my spelling and grammar don’t get noticeably worse.

Coupling this letter, with his behaviour yesterday, I and am sure most normal people would draw the conclusion, that the man isn't fit for office and an election should be called immediately.

1000% correct

The Sun fancy a bit of Gordon-bashing and pick this up to let rip.

I don't like the man either. I don't even buy this "he's a bit blind so can't write/read too well" (if he's that bad he shouldn't be running the f'in country)

But he's typo'd someone's name on a letter FFS. It's not like he insulted the man's character or anything. Mountain / molehill.

Well, I think we should err on the safe side and have a general election before he starts corresponding with Barrack O'Bama.

His spelling is terrible the letter is full of mistakes, that's nothing to do with having one eye.

How much effort has gone into that letter?

You don't think the secretary drafted it on the computer and then gave to him to copy out verbatim rather than him actually drafting it himself?
