I have had an Passet 1.9TDI estate on hire for the past two weeks, its just 10 months old with about 24k on the clock. Really surprised that the car is so noisy, its all coming from the Pirrili tyres. Certainly more noise than from my Skoda Fabia TDI estate that has 118K on the clock. Back to the Passet and those little irritants like the bright red dash lights, the 'bing' when a certain speed is exceeded, the dreadful electronic handbrake system. On the + side I like the manual gearbox and smooth steering with good turn circle. Just my observations, I won't be Q'ing to buy one.

The hand brake is the way forward in my opinion. The way it releases automatically makes stop/start traffic easier, it also free up space by not having a great big lever in the centre of the car.

The bing can be turned off, and the lights dimmed.

There is a speed warning which can be set to whatever you want.

If you set it to 70mph it will bing, and display SPEED WARNING!

It's really useful rolleyes

I think that is what crankedup is referring to.
