I'm getting really fed up with Brown's extra levies mad

Times Online

This one is to fund carbon capture.

How about wasting less, and then using the savings to fund this kind of technology?

"An official from the department said it was possible that the levy could remain in place for an additional 15 years, but this would depend on the price of permits to emit carbon."

I don't understand, as usual.

We have to pay for a permit (billions, presumably) to produce plant food gas, and then we have to pay further billions to fund the capture of the plant food gas we have apaid billions to be allowed to produce?

surely we only need to do one of those things???

So they either force up the price by applying a tax, or raise the cost of emitting carbon so that the price point will make carbon capture economically viable, i.e. raise the price. Guess not raising the price isn't an option...........

Well it's bin day chez nous and as I drove off with the burglars a-scampering ce matin, it dawned on me - four pigging wheelie bins.

That's just job creation for the clipboard classes...

So, we're told by the government that we all need to pay for using too much, as resources are scarce - the same government who has added an extra 3 million immigrants - possibly 4 million including illegals, to the UK population figures since 1997 - but it's our fault for be so individually greedy!

You couldn't make it up!

Sadly, the solution will be grey and black markets, in order to pay less taxes.

Then of course, you will need to up the powers of the police.

Sadly, the government are too blinkered to see where this leads. The people who get nailed will be those on PAYE, who don't do their own returns.

Brown has allowed the country's finances to spiral into oblivion and now he is dreaming up myriad ways of making us pay for it.

1. Al Gore joins top venture capital firm
2. As one example, top venture capital firm invests in a maker of smart grid technology, Silver Spring Networks, which could make Gore a very rich man
3. US Government spends $4.5 billion on various worthy smart grid technologies, which benefits firms including ... take a guess rolleyes

I read the other day that Gore will soon be a billionaire, off the back of the his 'Green' companies - if this were an oil company, there would be massive cries of foul due to bias and personal interest.
