It's becoming increasingly unlikely that I'll be able to leave the Chim in the garage all winter.

I've just fitted a new relay to the fuel pump circuit and because I initially fitted a permanently open one by mistake and flattened the battery, I thought I should start the car after charging the battery back up.

It is a cold November night but since the engine was running anyway I headed out to do a few miles before putting the car back to bed.
Getting out on the road the cold weather light was flashing green, but there was a warm draught coming from round the gear stick gaiter, which made everything feel right.
I thought I'd head round a loop of road which takes about 10 miles or so which would give the car and me a chance to get some fresh air.
That was 35 miles ago.
The noise, the feeling, the cold wind curling over the windscreen, the acceleration and the noise.
I've been back to the garage twice just to check everything is still okay since I got back fifteen minutes ago.
I know it's sad, my OH tells me just how sad it is, but I don't think I can go a whole week without driving it never mind most of the winter.
I think I need therapy. I've had the car five months now and the smile just doesn't go away.
Should I seek professional help?

OH? You mean the woman? The OH is infact the TVR, you need to get that bit into your head. Car first, woman after. I'm single for a reason; I speak car.

I think most of us are in the same situation.

My wife suggested SORNing the car this winter, but I can't bring myself to do it. I know I should, especially with the amount of salt put on the roads up here. But you know how it is. Every time you tinker with the car you have to test it.

I had decided to SORN mine as the tax is up at the end of November anyway and it would avoid the salt etc.
I don't think I can bring myself to do it.

It would be nice to have the choice! My 400 is my only car (I guess I'm a poor relation in the TVR world! Sob! hehe) and it will be driven come rain or shine all through the winter.
I have sorted out all the leaks now, the heater is AMAZING, and the gentler application of the right foot is becoming easier with practise! I am actually looking forward to "playing" in the snow and ice. A garden sprinkler under the car next spring should sort out the salt deposits! yes

I have the choice of an Astra or a L200 pick-up if I park the Chim up for the winter so not a lot of fun to be had there either.
I've just looked and it's still safe and sound.
I've a couple more weeks to decide.

I have been known to lay mine up for as much as

3 days.
But I do have a bicycle. Or running shoes too.
What is a volvo?

Ah a Volvo, its like a bike only slighty quicker but not as quick or as loud as a TVR and salt does not kill them and you do not have to clean or polish them. hehe

A TVR owners best friend Mine just passed its MOT today 180k and still hacking on biggrin
