MW2 joining friends games?

Just want to check i have this right...in Forza if i want to play online i pull up my friends list, see whos on forza in a private race and then click "join session in progress" if its avalible and it adds me to the lobby.

Is it the same in MW2 because last night i found a couple of "sessions in progress" but got a "cant join" message?

Am i doing it right?/ is there another way?

I ended up getting FUBAR'd by some 10 year old yanks on the public games instead.

Yes you can do this but onyl if there is space ikn the game for you to join.

If there isn't then the option isn't displayed.

Cool...so same as Forxa then - just look out for the "option to join"

Yes, feel free to join any game I'm in. Only thing is party chat can't be used (unless we're playing Ground War)

Cool...got to say, i'm hoping the online stuff gets me into it - right now i'd still rather jump in my driving chair and race (maybe i'm too old....my 9 year old has completed MW2 while off school sick and loves it....and beats me on system link )

9 year old playing an 18 rated game trawling through an airport shooting innocent civilians, etc.......lovely.

Keep an eye out for him developing that 'psycho' look in his eye

The joining thing is rather poor IMHO, not impressed... I would far prefer the COD 4 (and COD 5) way of doing things...

apparently their is a patch for the PS3 coming out on friday to help them in parties. Not sure about the Xbox.

A lot of the issues on the Xbox games are down to people not having their routers set up correctly to support Xbox Live. If your NAT settings are set to open you shouldn't have any issues. We had a couple of folk who couldn't join us last night because their NAT was reporting as strict.

Mine can't make its mind up.

Strict, so restart, showing as open but still can't join friends games.

tried adding xbox to DMZ but then can't connect to xbox live at all.

I wouldn't.

COD4 and 5 used to constantly put me back in the same game that I just left.. It also would make me join games with about 5 seconds left and put me on the losing team, great!

Not sure if MW2 does either of these things as I've not had a proper chance to play it yet but it seems a lot better thought out
