I have just had a new central heating system fitted with a vaillant ecotec boilerhowever it came with just a standard timer control

This one which isnt great as it just leave the heating on all the time when its set to be on.

I want to have a thermostat that controls the temperature and can turn the heating on and off etc. Ideally a wireless one on
this page theres loads of different options.

Some places tell you that you need the VR65 control unit as well as the actual unit other places say the unit plugs into the front. If it does just plug into the boiler can i get a seperate thermostat to sit in the hallway or living room to provide the temperature information the the boiler so it knows when my rooms are warm enough?

Any help appreciated.

We have the VRT360F fitted into our hallway to go with a Vaillant ecoTEC exclusive 838 boiler. This is the only wireless control panel as far as I can tell; all the other ones would actually be wired back to the boiler but could be sited wherever you wanted, just have to wraggle the wire into the wall.

The 360F comes with a receiver that is wired into the boiler and just looks like a pack of cards screwed to the wall (i.e. its not internal to the boiler casing). Single AAA battery has lasted about 2.5yrs. If you want to be really picky, you could move the controller to whatever room you wanted on a day by day basis, but our plumber fitted it to the hall wall.

Looking at the VR65, that box appears to integrate the different functions into the boiler operation, otherwise it runs on/off only as shown on the SWITCH 130 you mention.
