Indee, I suspect Silverstones facilitis don't really compare to any of the new tracks. But deep down inside I like going as its all very British and I feel comfortable in familiar souroundings.
So who would go to the British GP if it was held in a brand new Tilke designed facility somewhere remote in the UK? Especially as it will have a ticket cost of thousands and absolutly no history. It just woudnt be cricket!

The problem isn't the BRDC, it's Bernie. The (little) man is only interested in making money. As long as countries like Abu Dhabi will pay the race fees to stage a Grand Prix, Silverstone doesn't stand a chance. The race goes to the highest bidder.
He was happy to drop Montreal when they wouldn't pay up. Spa, Magny Cours and Hockenheim have all suffered too as a result of Bernie's insatiable greed for money.
I hope Bernie does the decent thing and agrees to a contract with Silverstone. It is after all the home of motorsport!

WRT Silverstone, it has to be done. It'd cause a national outrage otherwise; we have 2 British WDCs in the field, the WCC's are British, as are most of the teams. What I fail to understand is that Brown thinks that it's a good idea to pour billions into the Olympics, where we have no chance of doing well whatsoever, and won't even give 5p to Silverstone.
Long story short, given the choice; watch the Abu Dhabi race in absolute luxury in one of their hospitality suites while looking at the however many lightbulbs it was, whilst eating the finest meals etc, or stand around in a wet and windy airfield, freezing my balls off, and having been bumraped by the food vans for something barely classed as edible fish n chips. I'd be in the middle of the mudbath in a heartbeat.

Motor racing promotes the car which we all know is responsible for all the kiddies in Africa dying and don't forget the polar bears as well. It is run by greedy coporations and multimillionaires so it will get nothing from this goverment.

has it ever been at Brands Hatch ?Ironically, in pre-war days (before the whole F1 thing got going), the only truly international Grands Prix held in Britain were held at Donington and were called the "Donington GP" the two most notable being those of 1937 and 1938.

It was called the european GP when at Brands Hatch.For a number of years, the British Grand Prix proper alternated between Silverstone and Aintree and later between Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
Brands Hatch hosted its first British GP in 1962 and from that year onwards, the GP was held there on every "even" year with Silverstone getting the "odd" years.
In 1985, even though Silverstone hosted the British GP (as it was its "turn"), Brands Hatch did host the European GP as well (which I think was a last minute addition to tthe calendar due to the cancellation of one of the other rounds).
The last British GP held at Brands Hatch was in 1986.
