Store all your data for a year! And if anyone says; "If you have nothig to hide you have nothing to fear" then you are truly showing your inability to grasp the situation.

Soon to be closed down I think you'll find, when the health fascists take heart from their success with tobacco and seriously move against alcohol.

What a totally pointless POS legislation.

Real terrorists will find a way around this.

Only the normal, majority of people will be effected.

Standard Communist / Marxist protocol, destroy existing social groups and activities then fill the vacuum with an alternative, government approved "society"

Give them 10 years and we'll be wearing pyjamas, driving electric cars, eating at Taco Bell and thinking happy happy thoughts

No we won't. Tacos won't be healthy enough and we already know happy happy thought inducing drugs are worse than smoking and alcohol.

A bit silly really. If you were a terrorist network, all you need to do is create a hotmail account & let your other plotters know the account name & password. Create a message & save it as draft but don't send it & log out of hotmail. Your accomplise then logs in from their PC, reads the draft, deletes it & writes their own.

Voila - email communication without ever sending it through the ISP.......

Exactly,

It's a real shame that the people running our country don't have a Brain between them. Otherwise they'd realise this.

No you'll go to jail for refusing to hand over the keys.

I work under the assumption anything I do online is already logged, where I have the issue is the potential lack of authority/regulation over who can view those logs.

all we need to do is have an identical copy of a randomly chosen book.

I send you numbers relating to page, line, word or letter and bingo!

One encrypted message.

As some rightly pointed out, this is so ridiculously easy to circumvent already today that its not worth the time and money to legislate on...for example, simply have mail servers abroad, and/or use a vpn to remote desktop to a hosted machine in another country and do whatever you want there...unless they are going to try to decode the traffic then somehow "watch" your screen then they could never track your activity.

I hope they do follow through with this as it will cause a revolt from middle-britain who would be the victims of this - the tech savvy will easily defeat the governments plans in seconds, and then sell their capability to terrorists.

Somehow I don't think terrorists send each other emails or texts saying "Yes, blow up the train tomorrow, Ahmed. You will have seventy two virgins by Saturday. Jihad, Jihad." This measure is so unlikely to impact them that we should be asking about what the useless coward is actually trying to achieve.
