Ebay transaction...thoughts...

Evening all

On monday i did a deal with a guy advertising various bits of a 928 he is braking, the bit i wanted (exhaust) wasn't listed as a BIN or auction, he gave a price (very good) and we did the deal, i paid by Paypal that evening.

I included a message with the Paypal payment asking him to let me know estimated dispatch time. I didn't hear anything back that evening...nothing yesterday and nothing as of now, i sent another friendly message yesterday. Now, I know he has been online (yesterday) as he left feedback for some other transactions....just wondering why he hasn't got back to my emails.

I may be impatient but i check and reply to emails nightly, if i ever sell stuff on the 'bay i always reply as soon as i can. He has 100% feedback and isn't a newbie...guess we'll see...

still nothing...and again he left feedback yesterday so has been on the t'interweb...getting annoyed now.

See if he has a phone number listed on the paypal receipt.

No such luck If he doesn;t get in touch by monday (7 days s fair i think...no comms at all after that time is pee pee taking) i think i'll lodge a claim with Paypal.

request his contact details from ebay ,he will get a notification that you have requested them and you may find a phone number within the details ,it has worked for me in the past .

I think the bit's I've put in bold will explain a lot - The sale is outside of e-bay and therefore e-bay will not want to know, and possibly paypal as well (they are the same company at the end of the day!)

He has 100% feedback, cos any dodgy transactions have been done outside of "the system"!

I could be doing the guy an injustice, and I hope that I am, but the cynical side of me says this is the case.

True Andrew. But even though the tranaction was not through ebay as i paid by Paypal i can still open a dispute.

I do have a horrible feeling though...

When I buy something like this, I agree a price, and then ask them to list it with a Buy It Now and get them to email me the link. I really don't think that Paypal will be interested, as it's just a payment method. They don't have any responsibility to the customer.

Dispute filed. I know it is not a direct ebay tranaction but at the end of the day if the guy is abusing paypal then surely they have an interest to investigate it. But who knows..
