Have done many changes of oil and oil filter in my BMW 320d but although the engine runs as smooth as silk as soon as the engine is hot the new oil turns to a thick black consistency!. Does anyone have an answer the car has done only 47,00 miles. I have had 2 320d BMWs first time I have encountered this problem Has anyone ad this problem before?.

It only takes a little bit of old oil to discolour the new.

Diesels have very quickly turned golden coloured oil black by nature anyway.

Quite a few times this has come up, with people complaining and threatening the dealer.
It's perfectly normal as a tiny amount of carbon will colour the oil, but it's still "clean" in engine terms.

Nah, keep the oil fresh and enjoy the car to its full extent.

Oil discolours very quickly on turbo diesels. It doesn't mean to say that it needs changing, it is just doing its job.
