Any feedback on Live IQ routes and the traffic RE tom tom
Discussion
Hi guys any feedback on the above?Thinking of replacing my snooper syrius proline with this.Having tried a navigon ,that was not a good experience. The best for ease of use was a Garmin nuvi 210.Loved the way it was set up. Trouble was the Garmin as a lot of people on here have found out loves those tight country farm lanes.I do a shed load of miles ,was allways heart in mouth time going down them.Would love to know if they have sorted that out ,but who can you trust to tell you ,Garmin HO mmm.All the best ,Pete

My experience of changing from a Garmin 660 to a Tomtom 920 was that the TT chooses better routes. I am very happy with the TT.
My son uses a TT 940 Live, with £8 per month sub, mostly around London. He thinks it does a fantastic job of choosing the best routes in the light of the traffic - but unless two of you are doing the same journey, one takes the regular route and the other follows the TT, you can never really be sure.

I use a TT 740 Live daily and the Live traffic updates really are superb - I had 2 routes to a recent client, one M25, one taking the lanes that cross the M25 regularly. When the TT advised me to take the lanes route, there was always solid traffic on the motorway, so that proved to me that it works.
Only caveat is that occassionally I've been rerouted to avoid traffic (I always choose to take a slightly longer route with no traffic if possible, personal preference) and have ended up in slow traffic, purely because the TT Live doesn't have traffic info for smaller B roads and the like.

Hi, I have a TomTom 940 with HD traffic, and it is generally quite reliable. I use it every day for work. If TomTom is unable to find a traffic free route, it will reroute with the least amount of traffic, and it will tell you how long you'll be in the traffic jam, which is reassuring.
However, where roads are closed, it doesn't tell you (yet - TomTom software is continually updating which you do through TomTom home on your PC), so it may route you onto them, but usually traffic builds up before the point where the road is closed, it reroutes you anyway.
Certain models give you one/three months free, then it's £80/year (or £8/month).

Got a TT with IQ.... routing is dubious unless your on a Motorway....I have the TMC jobby..... all but useless in the UK but in Europe.....sensational....well the TMC bit....TT is still dubious as to it's routing...
My pal followed me last week across France,Belgium & Holland.....he called the passenger several times asking where the F**k was I going.....the Sat Nav he had was routing different (and better than TT)...Oh Well more wasted dosh...

Thanks for that billyliar what do you use now?Think I will keep my snooper syrius proline.TMC traffic is very hit and miss on it but I have got lifetime speed camerason it which has to be a plus.
I now use a 3 year old Garmin unit that doesn't do anything fancy. Nonetheless, it's not missed a beat and doesn't crash.Gassing Station | In-Car Electronics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
