Firstly, I was very lucky to get tickets. I doubt I will ever get them again.

Eric Banner was guest, very funny show, they went around Romania in a California, DBS and a LP560. Insult some gypsies, sleep in their cars and generally joke about with a Dacia Sandero. Top Gear is truly a great show. However, I would like to say this. James May, Richard Hammond are the nicest guys you are likely to meet, friendly, funny, sincere, intrested in you.
Jeremy on the other hand. Well what can I say, he is funny and poignant, but tbh he is a total tt. He managed the crowd through fear and was incredibly intimidating (cant stress this enough). His on screen persona is great, but off camera he is just a rude prick to pretty much everyone in the audience. He refused to speak to anyone and just left James and Richard to liase with the audience.

Still I hope you enjoy the show and stop this Clarkson for PM nonsense as from what I could gather, he would be a J.Stalin version 2

Did they have to do many takes of the scripted banter sections? Or did it seem pretty free flowing and "real"?

Shockingly it was 90% done in 1 take. only the intro was done 3/4 times.
the interview was one take, the News was one take. Remarkable.

Yes the start was certainly scripted. The rest was done in one take I can be sure if entirely scripted, if it was it was done in an Adlib kinda way.

I went to BBC white city the other day to do some work and I walked past the three of them standing out side. One of my colleagues had to point them out to me as I completely didn't notice.

I figured Clarkson isn't all that because he was having a fag and the other two were just standing there freezing their nuts off. I bet it was his idea to stand outside with him! smile

Bloody smokers eh? smile

When I worked with James he was constantly breaking off for a smoke, he's an absolute chimney.

Anyway, talking to James, he said that he and hammond are mates and see each other off set, whereas clarkson keeps himself to himself

Look forward to seeing Eric Bana as a guest, a genuine petrol head for once!

I've been to see it filmed a few times, thought both Hammond and may seemed like top blokes, didn't get to speak to Clarkson in the same manner, seemed to busy with a can of diet coke and a cigarette!!

Went to see it being filmed when they showed the Reliant Shuttle, it was adlib chaos, took 3-4 takes for most parts, the one that sticks in my mind most was May doing a bit to camera for the 3rd time after repeatedly fluffing it and Hammond waiting till he was on the final line before heckling him again and starting the whole process over.
That and JC having to do the HSE pre filming, never have i seen someone hate what he was doing so much. biggrin

where did you "put your name down"? I signed up for top gear tickets 5 years ago using the link that has appeared on these forums a number of times and have not heard anything.

I'll ask my hubby for you, he did it all. I'll give him a quick call.

He can't remember the site address right now, he'll have to look it up when he gets home but he said you have to re register each yr after the end of the season because they scrub the lists. You then give them the date (or dates you can get to) I'll get him to check it out tonight and let you know.

I went to watch TG back when they was racing the trucks as part of the production crew. During the break me and the guv'nor went in the TG office and had a chat with JC - seemed a nice enough chap.

RH on the other hand seemed pretty much like a belm.

cheers.
That is interesting as when I registered I thought they said it was a lottery but the average wait for tickets was 18 months to 2 years. Either everyone was wrong or they have changed the system.

I am fairly certain the set up has been changed, which is why we thought we'd give it a go. We didn't bother before because of the ridiculous waiting time.

That's strange. I found the complete opposite.
Jeremy was the only one having any banter with the audience when they weren't doing any filming - the other two were nowhere to be seen, at at no point did they speak to anyone in the audience.

I have heard accounts of all of them being grumpy at one time or another, I would not base one meeting with anyone of them to be conclusive of anything.
