Using a non-Microsoft wireless dongle with an XBOX 360

I purchased an XBOX 360 with MW2 and Forza 3 today. My router is no where near where the XBOX will live so I can't run an Ethernet cable to it. I do how ever have a Belkin N Wireless Dongle (F5D8053) that I use to connect my PC wirelessly.

I have been trying to use it with my XBOX, but cannot get the XBOX to recognise it and it keeps saying "can't detect your network hardware". After spending many hours scouring XBOX forums (scary places full of super aggressive 12 year olds) I have not been able to find a solution that works. I think I may have to configure the dongle, but I don’t know how. I also want to continue using it with my PC so I don't want to do any permanent damage.

Can someone help?

Thats just bog standard Internet Connection Sharing.
You can only use the official wireless dongle with a 360.

Or a media convertor that connects on CAT5

This is probably totally unhelpful, but I connect mine on ethernet straight to the router - means there is marginally less chance of lag, but I use a 10m Cat5 cable I got from Game for a tenner (not circa £25 that all the high street electrical lot seem to want) - and I just run the cable across the landing when I'm online.

Little awkward, and maybe one day when I'm so loaded I'll see £50 as reasonable expenditure to cut out this minor exercise!
