I have a ceiling light, like the one below, in the kitchen. Mine has normal R50 40watt spotlight bulbs though - 4 of them - not halogens like in the pic. But the mounting etc is the same style.

My problem is that 2 of the 4 bulbs keep blowing after only a couple of uses - the same bulbs each time. Whereas the other 2 plough on as normal.
Does anyone know a reason why this would keep happening?
Thanks

We had some similar fittings in the shop I used to have. They would pop regularly, and all we could put it down to, was vibration from people running about on the floor above the fitting?

We had exactly the same thing.
Ours is in the kitchen below my daughters bedroom, so her daughter dancing about would cause the whole thing to flash on and off - I regularly have to tighten the fittings! The screw in bulbs often work themselves loose after a while too - like a bloody herd of elephants she is!!

Probably the contacts in the lampholder aren't touching properly, there's a centre contact that may be too far back and a side contact that may be too far out. General wear and irregularities between lamps. This can normally be fixed by prising/bending them forward a few mm with a screwdriver/long nose pliers, once of course the fitting is dead and safe to work on.
