I know someone with a 92 MX5, UK model, Red, reasonable condition, personalised (irish) reg, failed it's MOT - a bit of welding and a few minor things required.

He's lost interest and is talking about scrapping it, I have time to spare (and no money!) so am considering buying it for the scrap value if he'll let it go for that, getting it MOTd - I can do all the work myself - and selling it.

I know it's a how long's a piece of string question, but can you give me a rough idea what it's worth now and what it might get with a years MOT?

The local breakers will pay £50 if you take it in (although I would think it was worth more than that?) but he might accept it as he isn't very good with cars and might well end up having to pay someone to take it away as he won't have any means of getting it to the breaker.

Thanks

John

i would value it like this....depending on paintwork/interior/engine & gearbox condition its got to be worth £600 with a mot, must be worth 250 like it is.

Sussex. I'll let you know when he's made his mind up. It's been sitting on the drive for a few months why he's tried to decide.

This has taken a while to sort out but it's now on my drive and advertised here.

I've had a guess at a suggested price - it's a bit higher than suggested above, but the reg has to be worth something once it's roadworthy.
