Can anyone tell me what this knob does?

It is underneath the lighting stalk on my 1997 Griffith 500 and it seems to be a potentiometer that can be twisted through 3/4 of a turn. I assumed that it would dim the dashboard lights or something like that but it doesn't seem to do anything. Maybe it isn't even supposed to be connected to anything - I can't find any mention of it in the bible. It has bugged me for about four months now so any info gratefully received.

I think its the variable speed knob (ooh-err) for the intermittent wash-wipe.

Cheers, Al.

My knob - phnaaaaaar - varies the time between wiper wipes from 8 seconds to 14 seconds. I counted, so now when it's sot of raining or not, I can figure out i fit's 8 sec or 14 sec rain and twiddle the bit accordingly.

Brilliant, I never thought of that. Best of all, looks like I'll be able to try the windscreen wipers on the way home tonight .

Thanks for the traditional rapid PH response.

Has grm500 got three knobs or just gets very nervous about the subject?

That would of course be far more useful. So what we need is David Beer to come up with a wiring plan that defaults the wipers to a fixed elapse time intermittent wipe and re-wires the dash lights to this knob. Rich...

The control does indeed work exactly as described, many thanks.

At least I know how to get a question answered on this forum, just come up with a good knob gag, in fact any knob gag.

Dim the dash lights? Apart from the bulb for the full beam indication, all the displays on my Grif are pretty craply illuminated anyway. Who's idea was it illuminate black dials with a green bulb? Besides, you do have the facility to turn 'em off alltogether when you dont want any distractions down those twisting country lanes

Does anyone know what the vauxhall part number is for the intermittent delay switch? The spade connections have busted on mine and I need a new one.
