How does £3k sound for a repair cry Trouble is i'm not at all sure i want it back on the car so it would only be worth fixing if i had a guaranteed buyer willing to pay say £3.5k for it and i can't see that happening in a hurry so what was a £6k gearbox to start with may be going in the skip - which is bloody trajic frown
Thinking of putting on a standard box to get it home and then look at the options come the new year smile

yes £3k to fix is not good how can it be that much ? for just 3rd gear or is there more damage ? might be better off giving bara a ring and see if they can help or as if its only worth £3.5k max its not worth is it and might be better off selling as is as you might get £500 + for it as the rally boys might like it, as for box replacement then thats not going to be cheap might be better of going for what i have ?

Yes, problem is more than just the damage i've done - wear and tear on all the gears from previous owners, complete rebuild would be best rather than take a chance on a cheap fix........ i guess that's the trouble with second hand stuff !!
Right now i'd take £500 for it rather than bin it frown Probably going to put on a standard box to buy me some time and look at all the options inc. the DPE smile It can all be sorted new year when work calms down a bit biggrin

some lovely setup there guys. Quuick question though, why do cossys tend to be built with such low compresion ratios???? Evo run 8.8 to 1 and even turbo V8s (where you can run lower comp. and more boost as lag is less of an issue) are running 8.5-9.5 to 1....

Not taking a pop or trying to be a smart *rse just interested. smile

Mate im not denying that ANY 500+BHP cossy wont go well! lol smile it just seems odd why they are built with such low comp.raito compeared to the EVOs 4G63T motor for example.

Thinking about it it should let you run more boost, but i dont see 30psi on one of these engines being a problem anyway!

Anyone else have any ideas????

Cheers

Chris.

mine runs 34 psi max at 4000 rpm and then 33psi till 6500 rpm and then it drops to 32 psi, its not being over pushed at that and could run more but i would need more head work done and i wanted my engine to be nice on the road and not a track engine

I've got one.
Here she is.

It's currently in the process of being stripped down and returned to factory spec for next years show season.

Sounds like you could do with a little bigger exhaust housing...or maybe a larger turbo! smile
