Taking my son down to London tomorrow and would like some tips on where to visit. We'll probably visit the war and science museums but what else will he enjoy?

I think I was ten or eleven when I got taken to the London Dungeon, absolutely loved it. That coupled with the science museum made a great birthday!

Science Museum is always good, London Eye as well but weather dependant...

Maybe a boat ride?

A search would help- we did this recently!

The Natural History Museum is better than the Science Museum- far more interactive stuff for both of you. The Museum of London is also very good as it is quite focussed. The London Eye is great if the weather is good.

I wouldn't bother with the London Dungeons; the queues outside can be three hours long. Almost next door are The Monument and the Tower Bridge Experience, both of which are interesting and often overlooked. Going to the very top of St Paul's is also fun (rather wobbly old iron staircases!)

Given the weather forecast the London Eye might be quite exciting hehe

(It'll probably be shut!)

The Tower of London is brilliant, and you get to see the Crown jewels.

Went to the dungeons and tussaurds on monday with the mrs, good laugh but both quite short and only worth the money if you get the 2 for 1 offer.

Natural History Museum. Full size dinos and the Blue Whale are worth a look.

If you're only there for a day then you've got enough to do already, but this is on if you're interested - http://www.lordmayorsshow.org/
Otherwise you could take him to Harrods or Hamleys for a spot of Xmas list recce'ing, Rainforest Cafe for lunch (it's a bit naff and you'll need to book but kids love it)and Chinatown in Soho is always worth a 10 minute wander.

If you're driving down, park in the City of London and get the tube from there.

P.S - Imperial War Museum is a bit of a trek from the Science Museum and I doubt you'll have time to do both in one day. I'd stick with Science/Natural History Museum and do IWM (which is ace) another day.

Oh well, we'll be indoors most of the day.

Looks like the Natural History Museum in the morning, Sticky Fingers for lunch at 12pm then off to the war museum.
