Dress to impress.....WTF ?

I am going to a big party tomorrow and the invitation says ' Dress to Impress' Can the collective PHers give me some advice what to wear.

As a bit of background I'm 61 , 6ft tall and fairly well built verging on fat ! I wear a suit all day so do not have a suit for ' Best' nor want one I have a DJ but it is def not black tie, I have Jeans random trousers , some decent shirts and decent shoes , only have a Blazer and a gillet , It is pissing down with rain and I have to get something today 'cos i'm going to the Rugby tommorrow .

Help please !

Nice pair of shoes, smart dark blue jeans, nice tailored shirt (paul smith etc) plus a jacket is a nice smart casual look.

It's also all down to the accessories (watch, scarf, cool socks etc)

I think I need to get a decent Jacket , just bought some new Diesel jeans but I think you mean some unfaded ones ?

'Dress to impress' would imply no jeans to me... More like nice shirt & Chinos, or suit or something like that.
'Smart Casual' would imply nice jeans and shirt IMO.
