Kimi at McLaren

There's lots of rumours flying around that Kimi will be racing at Mclaren next year. I can confirm form an insider at McLaren F1 that he has already commited to one season with the team from next year. It will be an ongoing contract depending on how he fits in and performs. Not sure if there are any other posts already on this - appologies if there are...

Also, Honda willingly paid the money - it's not like they couldn't have found someone else, if they had wanted to. They obviously thought they were getting value for money - and remember that all we see is the driving, not all the other work a driver does behind the scenes in a team.

I reckon this is a bit of grandstanding. Button needs to go/stay with a team where he has no.1 status. The last thing he wants is a battle for supremacy. I know he's spent years without the massive incomes many other drivers have had, but will he really pick a team based on money alone?
Or else he's not that confident that Brawn can secure funding or have the ability to be up there at the front next season.
I reckon it's a negotiating ploy.

Also want him to finalise things with Brawn asap - I would have thought there shouldn't be doubts about ability of Brawn for next year - and the funding is said to be sorted....
One thing I hate about the process (and so many that end up with a 'formal' announcement) - by the time of the press conference usually almost everyone knows what is going to be announced
Spin doctors and publicists have a lot to answer for... all this business of 'Kimi's been to Woking'.... 'JB has been too'..... let them all get on with it behind closed doors and then tell us when they have sorted out what is going on.Rollcage said:

And we all know how much JV thought he was worth - no wonder the bods at Honda didn't feel they were overpaying JB afterwards...
