I'm cutting down my Ford 9", but could really do with borrowing (or buying) a spare 3rd member sans pinion etc??

All i need is the carrier to stick a solid lump of steel through!

any ideas?

use your current center section, turn up collars with the OD of the bearing caps and the ID a few thou larger than the perfectly straight bar you're using. Turn up collars to align your ends to your bar and you're set, TIG weld it to avoid warping the case and weld it in sequences to avoiding it pulling in one direction. Solid bar isn't perfectly true, you need a machined true length of bar. A reasonable cheap substitute is a bar out of a hydraulic ram.
