Having mulled over going for some time and always wanting to see what Richie Corrigan's mainstream food would be like visited this place last week for dinner.

Anyone else tried it?

The night we were there, the main Gents loos were out of action leaving ONE downstairs, disabled toilet for every man in the place; constant queues for the loo....

Also, felt that my seafood cocktail was a rip off! Had to send back some liver as it was as though my mother cooked it and then cooked it again. Staff pretty good and friendly so cant fault that.

Overall, completely overpriced for the lack of expected quality. It doesnt help that this was one of 3 meals out last week and this is the only one I found fault with although being teh most expensive.

Now the toilet situation alone is prompting me to write in and mention all of our comments. If the food was up to standard I dont think I would bother but does anybody know the rules about covers/toilets ratio etc?

Or am I being a little precious?

ps - FOrgot to add that when a piece of liver came back from teh kitchen to replace the first bit, completely under cooked and purple/cold in the middle. Lack of quality control was very surprising!

I would agree with your review of Bentleys Swallow Street (just in case anyone googles it in future).

I ate there last December as a wedding present from my brother.

We were totally unimpressed and left feeling that they could have done so much with what were undoubtedly good ingredients but lacked the skills in the Kitchen to do so and totally ripped you off financially in the process!!

The atmosphere was much akin to an Aberdeen Angus, yes the staff were pleasant... but I did my training at The Connaught (ok a long time ago!!!) and if that was the level they strive for they fall well short..

I suspect that given their position they are now trying to rely on their name/reputation with tourists and "non Londoners" to hold the price point without the capability or quality.

It was a shame as it was a present from my Brother and apart from the Wedding Dinner 2 days before was supposed to be "the meal" of our short honeymoon before left the UK again to go and live the dream!!!
