Driving down a narrow road close to me late last night and came to a very narrow part, so doing as what normal traffic does, I came to a stop to allow the other traffic through, when some d**khead decides to come racing through and takes off my drivers door mirror et all.

As it is a very narrow road I had to park up further down the road and walk back to see what I could rescue. In the pouring rain. As luck would have I rescued the cover piece intact, not even a scratch. Then on getting back to car realised something else was missing, as there were two wires dangling. Back I go. Again as luck would have it, the motor assembly was there in the gutter, with the smashed glass atatched.

I am now in the process of ordering new parts to replace broken/missing parts, and wondered if any one had a drawing of the door mirror assembly as I think I am a few little parts missing, as in what looks like some sort of anchor point in the corner. It may make it a little more simple if I had part numbers or a drawing when talking to spares.

thanks in advance

I may be wrong but i think the only service part for the mirror is the glass, the rest is sold as a unit.

monkfish have one on ebay that they say can be painted to your requirments

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Monaro

Sorry just realised you have a Vxr8 not Monaro, think you'll find the same story though

Well after speaking to a great guy called Neil at Sherwoods Vauxhall Darlington, as no-one else would do credit card orders over the phone (this is 2009 is it not?), I have got myself a glass on order. For any one interested, there are three parts to the mirror that can be bought. Prices below

The mirror has cost me £15.93 inc postage
The middle section is £73 + VAT
The cover is £7.70 + VAT

Quite reasonable I thought compared to the £900 for the rear light smile

Did you get a cover 007?
