Actually, looking at the exif details of some of the other photos - particularly the ones that others have commented seem to be out of focus..... as they have been shot in fairly low light with program mode, the shutter speed on at least a couple is only 1/10th of a second. Unless the camera was mounted on a tripod, the slight blur is almost definitely down to camera shake, not a focus issue.
Whilst it's easy to criticise, I'd say good on you for making the effort to go out and have a play with your new camera. It's only by experimenting that you are going to find out about the camera and improve your technique.
Keep snapping, and if shooting in low light, try supporting the camera (if not on a tripod), maybe on a beanbag or similar placed on the floor/a wall etc... Also if doing this, rather than pressing the shutter button to take the photo instantly, maybe try with the self timer (2 or 10 second delay) - stops you moving the camera when the shutter actually opens.
Cheers,
Conrad.
