Think its the beginning of the end with my 360 Elite normally the first time i try and load a game the machine says the disc is unreadable ie dirty or damaged , checking the discs and they are fine , new games seems worst of all i have got around this by loading the games onto my HD and then they run fine

Although after repeated attempts the machine will often load them fine and then work without problems

My original xbox started to do this before the RROD which necessitated the purchase of the Elite , so is this the beginning of the end or is there something else i can try

I've got the same problem with my Elite - I've tried lens cleaners but looking on other forums it's apparently a faulty laser in the DVD drive.

If your XBox is under a year old it'll still be under warranty - fill in the forms on XBox.com and get it sent away to Germany for repairs. If you're out of warranty, you could try a DVD drive swap (google it and you'll get plaenty of results), but I don't know if you'd get banned from XBox Live for having a 'modded' console. Try sending it away first, as that should be free!

I've had it since they were launched which i think is at least 2 years perhaps more , its had a fair bit of use
