Changing Bulbs on Xenon H/Lights (Octavia)
Discussion
Side light bulb gone on my 2003 Octavia. Not really a problem - more of an irritation - but when I looked in the manual it helpfully advised to take it to a dealer for bulb replacement - which seems absolutely crazy. The headlights are Xenon (blue white jobs) but the side light bulbs are standard.
Anyone done this job? Any tips?
Thanks.

The ignitors for the xenons can give you a potentially lethal electric shock, so all the advise is not to let the customer touch anything anywhere near them.
In reality you would have to take it all apart put your finger in a stip place and at the same time have somone turn the lights on and off to get a shock, so dont be put off by that.
Find a guide for a non xenon car and follow that, will be the same.
Can you get the cover off the back of the lamp and look inside??

just changed my xenons (ds2 bulbs) on an '02 s3. manual advised taking it to the stealers, however i did it myself for a lot less than £150 for parts alone!
unless the engine bay is very compact and you're a novice under the hood, have a go yourself!
