Window Tint Film Removal

Can anyone recomend somewhere to get after market tint film removed from my windows, preferably around the Derby area?

Sorry, no idea. But you could try one of the window tint companies, if they put it on, they might be able to, or know who could to take it off.

I did wonder that myself, but thought that somehow it might be more sophisticated.

peel it off and clean it with panel cleaner or white spirit, it helps to heat it up with a hair dryer first

I bought my wife a car with tinted windows. The fronts were too dark for the local plod and had to be removed........

You need...
Hair dryer,
Nail varnish remover/thiners,
Craft knife/sharp blade.

Lower the window to expose the top edge of the tint. Heat with a hair dryer and use the knife/blade to enable you to grab and peel. Pull the tint down whilst blowing with the hair dryer.

It will tear and leave sections, just keep repeating.

It will also leave a tacky residue. This needs to be removed by soaking well with nail varnish remover/thiners and scrapped, if needed, by something like an old credit card or a stanley knife blade.

Thanks for the responses, I made some calls on Saturday and got quoted £150 for removal from side windows and the rear window. It's the rear window and the demister lines that is stopping me from having a go at it myslef... I think I'll book it in and get it done.

£150.00 for a proper job, i'd pay it, especially considering its all the windows!
