My next-door neighbours think I am mad because every weekend, I clean my car and as a part of that clean, I jack it up, remove the wheels and clean them thoroughly on both sides. I also give the brake caliper a quick once over to stop the accumulation of brake dust.

To be fair, it doubles the time taken just to wash the car, but it looks much smarter afterwards with the wax finishing them off lovely (I use Chemical Guys Wheel Guard).

Now, I can understand people only doing this on their weekend toys, but I do this on my daily snotter (OK, it's a brand new daily snotter, but even so, the point stands).

So who else cleans both sides of their wheels on their daily snotters...?

You'll fatigue the studs and the wheels will fall off.

The inside rims are still mucky.

Yeah, pretty sure that's what happens. I hope so.

That's damage. Will possibly come out if I cut the paint but not going to bother. Every Focus RS 2 I have seen has this from new. No idea why.

You take the wheels off every week? wow this will help ( http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/ez-... ) to just clean them and maybe you can get that down to once a month or bi monthly at most. use a wheels sealant such as poorboys wheels sealant and you should be fine.

Already use Chemical Guys Wheel Guard which is very similar to Poor Boys. I will order up one of those brushes next time I get a haul of stuff from CYC, although it's nice to be able to get the wheel off and mint up the caliper, hub, strut, arch liner etc...

OCD, me...? hehe

^^ It is but every week is pretty excessive mate lol im just trying to help you make your life easier, maybe if you dont take the rims off every week you can spend a bit more time cleaning other parts, preferably bits you can see ha ha ha.

If you clean up the caliper, hub arch liner well now then use a protector / sealant you will be able to clean them easy with the wheel on to a good standard and then just re do them (at most id say monthly)

This is true. There's a lot of other cleaning to be done, although the car is pretty much mint (as it should be, it's only a month old). Waiting for some new glass polish to arive before getting stuck into the windows. Just some areas of matt black plastic to be normalised in colour and the car will be better than new. Until I next drive it that it, at which point all the hard work is lost...! hehe

TVR rims have a better finish that the body work lol one of the best inner wheel finishes, they always come up a treat, good work.

Some nice looking wheels there. The soft brush looks nice too - is it thin enough at the core to get right into the corners where the hub meets the spokes...?

The TVR wheels look lovely at 9 years old. I'd be thrilled if my wheels look that good that far down the line. Good job thumbup

If your daily snotter is a Focus RS, what on earth is your weekend car?

It's much easier to just buy a selection of brushes, which enable you to leave the wheels in place.

Yeah - I think this is what I'll end up doing. Despite the fact I am a bit OCD about car hygiene and attempt to keep my car aseptic at all times hehe I do find cleaning the car very cathartic and theraputic after a particularly weary week at work.

Wheel brushes are certainly the way forward though I think - They will be added to the next CYC goodie bag I order up. smile

I spend the week doing other peoples cars, so, most of the time, find doing mine at the end of it, a bit of busman's holiday.smash
