Changing rear shocks

Not sure about that, if they are standard shocks on the car already and that you are keeping the same springs then I would say you definitely need some. If you are changing to a whole new spring and shocker assembly then you don't need spring compressors. If you have adjustable shockers on the car already then you will not need spring compressors, just unscrew the thread collar to the bottom and you should be OK.
I changed my standard Bilstein shocks and springs for Gaz Gold Pro and went nowhere near a spring compressor. Jack up the car, support with axle stands and the shocks then hand from the mounts. Undo bolts, remove, catch, replace.
As easy as that! (assuming your nuts and bolts are not seized in the mounts/rubber bushes).

Rears done, its an easy job - took about an hour.
It would be really easy if I had a lift, but as it was I just used a jack and stands and grovelled about in the muck.
But what a difference! Miles better ride with these new RRs than the old Gaz's, and that was with the adjuster just set halfway as a start-off.
Unfortunately the RR shocks don't have any indication which way is + or -, so I'll have to investigate further, unless anyone here knows?
