Sure this has been covered many times in these pages but i'm in the market for either a 335d or 335i both of which i intend to remap (maybe DMS) looking for any feedback, thoughts, prefs etc. I do around 18k miles a year but fuel consumption doesn't concern me. Lots of motorway driving, Using diesEl Landrover right now but previous car was a modded B5 RS4 SO.....Thanks in advance
Just ignore them all, the 335d thing has been done to death, but i vs d??
I have owned both, the diesel is pretty damned good, the petrol though is a whole new level.
I managed to get 0-60mph from my 335i touring of 4.6 seconds pretty much every time, it became a very, very rapid machine.
However.....it is still not the most exciting beast in the world, it is a great mile muncher, and extremely comfortable, but there is no drama, it just takes everything in its stride, and that for me is what let it down, there is no rev range really, the power is always there so there is no sense of involvement, you just press the throttle and go.
So as much as I hate diesels, and the fact the 335i is quite a bit quicker, I think you may as well go for the dirty derv.
If you are buying used then that is a different matter, if you can get a 335i 20% cheaper than the 335d then go for the petrol, it is still lighter and still sounds better and is the better car, so you need to weigh it up properly.
I sold my 335i and bought another E46 M3, now that is a proper car.

As stated this has been done to death, your OP doesn't even state any special requirments to allow it to have its own thread....so go use the search button.
Just as a matter of understanding PH ethiquette, why the preciousness over duplicating threads? Genuine question from a a still novice contributor. It is the one thing I hate about this place, people start to police the forum and tell people to "search".
Well things change, peoples opinions change, I loved my DMS'd 535d, but after 10 months and 25k miles I was bored of it, now if you search for the original threads you would think it was the best thing since sliced bread, then I got a 335i, and again it was the best car ever if you read my initial impressions.
However, then realised once the novelty of the speed wore off, that as good as it is, it is also a pretty boring car if you are looking for something other than a seriously quick mile muncher. I actually found the new 330i far more enjoyable, that NA engine is sweet, you have to drive it, none of this pressing the gas in any gear and there being power on tap, but that is what makes it so special, so much more rewarding. Oh, and I got 38mpg from it over the 2 days and 500 miles I had it, which I think is incredible, I got 27mpg from my 535d and the 335i to give you an idea.
So, although a search may give you someones initial impressions new threads should be started again to give another, more unbiased view. We tend to be far more honest, with ourselves, once we look back on ownership.
I needed another car to replace my M3 recently, and it was funny, I was trying to decide what to get, another 535d, another 335i, maybe a 335d, all great cars, but the one car I adored, and the only one I have kept for over a year, was our 120d M-Sport auto, so in the end I bought another 1 series, this time a 123d, I very nearly didn't get one as it is far nicer to say you drive a 535d than a 1 series, but that's stupid, and so far no regrets whatsoever.
Again, I wouldn't have even thought I actually like the 1 series best at the moment out of all the BMW range if you had asked me 3 months ago, but when looking back and having to buy another car and choosing from ones you have had before it does make you really choose your real favourite. And again, it also shows that old threads are exactly that, old.

It means all the information is kept all in one place

Done many tests with friends...
Standard 335d vs 335i.. indentical..
Re-mapped indentical also.
Only when you start spending major dough does the 335i become a complete monster.. as in V10 M5 monsteR.
I have videos etc.
Also a car magazine tested both standard and re-mapped also proving there =
