I'd like to take my GF to Paris for the weekend before Christmas. I was thinking of leaving London on Friday afternoon and returning Sunday. So I was wandering;

Is it best to go via Eurostar or from City airport, I appreciate the flight will be quicker but I have no idea of transfer times from the terminals in France to the centre?

Any hotel recommendations - Not as expensive as the George V or Crillon but then not the Paris Holiday Inn either?

Any restaurant recommendations?

Any tips on things to do that are different from the norm?

Thanks for your help. smile

Flights from LCY go to Paris Orly.

Orly is far easier to use than CDG, but the journey in to Paris involves changing trains from a shuttle on to the RER B line. The total journey time is probably around 45 mins from Orly in to Paris. Useful link. The RER B line serves the Left Bank (St Michel), Chatelet les Halles and Gare du Nord (and even Paris CDG).

If you're travelling from the centre of London, I'd always recommend the train - it's just far less hassle.

Something different? The perennial PH favourite, the Catacombs!

Thanks for the flight info - train it is.

The catacombs looks good (possibly not as romantic as I was hoping!) but Wiki syas they have been shut indefinitely since Sep 09 due to vandalism.

Decent Hotel, near the place de Concorde and the Opera. Note - very expensive shops between hotel and PdC!!
