Just done my first trackday - thing the bug has bitten !!
Discussion
Hi there,
Me and my business partner have done our first trackday today.
Massive thanks to Javelin Trackdays for helping us out after we spent over 2 hours as 'trapped traffic' on the M1 in between to very serious accidents, thereby missing the safety briefing and about an hour of track time.
We chose Elvington as its a massive wide open space and theres not a lot to hit if you do go off.
We spent this week preparing the car, fitting new discs (grooved and drilled) and new pads, along with a full service, we also had the ECU chipped which has made a noticeable difference to the car.
Had a superb day, we both seemed to learn the track pretty early on which meant we could push on in the afternoon. The Golf coped really well and is a great base for what will be a great track car.
Next track day is Oulton Park on 1st December. We are really looking forward to trying the car out on a proper circuit. Before then we plan on lowering the car (its to high at the minute and looks like a monster truck), and also getting rid of the standard airbag wheel as it looks like it came from a bus.
Heres some pics of Simon out in the car

Look at the back wheel locked up

Elvington also had a visit from a group of Focus RS owners. They were not tracking their cars, just come for a run out.

Regards
Tim

Ian,
Yep normal road tyres. Three of the tyres were just the ones that were on the car when we bought it, the fourth was a new one as the old one had a bulge which could have been interesting out on track.
They seemed to hold up pretty well, they did get quite hot and we have got some marbles of rubber on them from other cars but there good to go for Oulton on 1st December. Quite fancy some slicks though
