Meh.

Forgot the basic rule of all adult comedies these days that aren't about drink and girls, the best jokes are in the trailer. As a comedy the principal 'joke' seemed to be saying Jedi a lot in a scene with Ewen in it.
It was almost as if they decided to make a serious movie about the subject and then lobbed a load of jokes at it when they realised the subject wasn't that interesting. Won't worry Ronson at all as I would imagine he's laughing all the way to the bank.

Clooney and Ewen made a very good double act though. Just a shame they didn't have any good jokes. And the freeing of both types of prisioner at the end was just a bit of wooley minded wet lefty point making of the worst kind.
Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey were both totally wasted and Spacey actually looked ill.

Poor. 3/10.

Thank you for that, I was actually interested in seeing it based on the Advert, if however they are all the best jokes, then there is no need.

i read the book about 3 years ago. it should have been possible to make a very funny film out of it.

It almost felt like some kind of nice, low key off beat comedy documentary thing, but then they tried to inject random bits of manufacutred-feeling story into it and rammed a bizarre holywood ending onto it. confused

I still might have a look at it, but have heard many similar reports about this film. When I first saw the trailer, and Clooney, I rejoiced that there was another Coen Brothers film to watch ... sadly there wasn't frown

I liked it. But then I'm not too much of a fan of comedies about drink and girls.

Boring. Another well acted well filmed movie lacking a decent script. A bit pointless IMO.
