Makes me laugh that the "expert" in watches discounts the swatches as worthless... yet anyone who actually knows about watch values will know that early first line swatches are hugely collectable. The first generation "jelly" can sell for upwards of £2k

Eh ? The first Jellyfish unworn And unyellowed is worth a few hundred quid tops. Swatch did hand out a very early addition to press before the launch, but they never come up.

It's the early one I'm talking about (although boxed Jelly's have sold for more than you say) . Saw one about 6months back for £2k+ listed as sold at an auction. Will dig out the link if I can.

My point was more the disdain showed by the expert as the watches as being bits of unwanted plastic. There are loads of collectors out there

Ah, It's the GK100SP from 1983 you were talking about. I have a Swatch book here that says 200 were given out, on the same page it says 500. I'd have one ! The Jellyfish was my first real watch, I'd love another.
